OUTLOOK

Coming off an undefeated Olympic League championship season, the Warriors are strong contenders to repeat despite having only one returning starter and a squad laden with juniors. That’s a significant change in personnel for Brethren Christian, which had nine seniors on the roster last year. But Coach Thomas, although cautious, likes the nucleus he has at his disposal. “We have an inexperienced team as far as varsity is concerned,” said Thomas, now in his 10th season with the Warriors. “But our strength will be our depth, speed and defense. We also have a good rebounding trio in Scott Thomas, Andy Brown and Reggie Davis.” Scott Thomas, the coach’s son and an all-league selection last season, averaged 10.4 points. Brown and Davis, the quarterback on the school’s football team, will try to fill the void left in the front line by the graduation of 7-foot center Chris Fry (10.1 rebounds) and forward Chiron Hart (17.0 points and 41.9% success in three pointers). Coach Thomas said one of his goals is to keep alive the team’s 14-game league winning streak.
