NEWHALL : Hart Mansion Roof Will Be Replaced
The original roof of the late cowboy actor William S. Hart’s Spanish-style mansion in Newhall, built in 1927 and now a Los Angeles County museum, will be replaced in phases starting next week because of leaks that could damage furniture, paintings and other artifacts, officials said Friday.
As a result, the 10,000-square-foot, two-story facility in William S. Hart County Park will be closed Monday until late January, said Norm Phillips, a county regional parks superintendent.
However, the rest of the park will remain open daily from 7 a.m. to sunset, he said.
Estimated cost of the project is $100,000, officials said.
