Countywide : Free Tows Offered to Inebriated Drivers
An Orange-based towing company is offering a holiday gift that could save someone’s life.
Beginning today and continuing through Jan. 1, Tri Star Towing is offering free rides home to individuals who think they have had too much to drink to drive home safely. Best of all, their cars get towed home too.
“It’s an opportunity to give something back to the community,” said Glenn Gorman, president of Tri Star Towing. “We do police towing throughout the year, and we often see accidents involving drunk drivers.”
The program is limited to residents of Anaheim, Fullerton, Placentia, Orange, Brea and Yorba Linda.
Vehicles will be towed free for up to 25 miles. No questions are asked, but drivers must show the car keys to tow truck operators as proof of ownership.
The program is part of TOWED--Towing Operators Working to Eliminate Drunk Driving--a national anti-drunk-driving campaign sponsored by Miller Industries, a manufacturer of towing equipment, and the Towing and Recovery Assn. of America, the industry trade group.
