PORT HUENEME : Man Robs Branch of Bank of America
A man claiming to have a gun robbed a Port Hueneme branch of the Bank of America on Thursday and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.
The robbery occurred about 3:30 p.m. when a man described as in his late 20s or early 30s entered the bank at 755 W. Channel Islands Blvd. and approached a teller, said Port Hueneme Police Sgt. John Ema. The robber, wearing a tan jacket and khaki pants, told the teller he had a gun and demanded money, Ema said. No weapon was seen, he said.
After being handed an undisclosed amount of money, the robber fled on foot, Ema said.
The robbery was the 97th in Ventura County this year, breaking what had already been a record number of bank robberies, said FBI Special Agent Gary Auer.
