Graffiti--Art or Blight?
In response to “Going After Graffiti,” Voices, Dec. 14:
It was interesting to learn of the new “spin” in defense of graffiti, a paraphrase of a dubious slogan of the National Rifle Assn., “spray cans don’t kill.” No, spray cans don’t kill, but neither do people who defraud S&L; institutions, bribe politicians, pick pockets or sexually harass women. However, spray cans help make slums out of decent communities, deface private and public buildings, contribute to a disrespect for the law, and add to the malaise of our society.
