THOUSAND OAKS : Off-Road Ride Ends in Injury, Arrest
A truck rolled 980 feet down a steep Thousand Oaks hillside Friday, sending a woman passenger to the hospital with hip injuries and the driver to jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, officials said Saturday.
Beatrice Flores, 26, of Thousand Oaks is in satisfactory condition at Los Robles Medical Center, said nursing supervisor Susan Stahl.
Flores was a passenger in a truck driven by Jose Ahumada, 31, of Moorpark, said California Highway Patrol officer Jim Utter.
Ahumada was driving off road on a steep, muddy hill east of Saddle Trail in Thousand Oaks when he apparently lost control of his truck. The vehicle rolled down the embankment and landed in a ravine, Utter said.
Flores, who was not wearing a safety belt, was thrown out.
Ahumada was treated for minor injuries before he was booked at Ventura County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Utter said.
