Oates’ Theory Doesn’t Get a Neutral Response
I see that Bob Oates thinks the location of NFL conference championship games should be determined by which teams have domed stadiums rather than which teams have the best record.
What a great idea--NOT!
I’ll bet that Oates also thought putting lights in Wrigley Field was a good idea. Figure it out, Mr. Oates, football is supposed to be an outdoor game. Why do you think the NFC Central Division is called the Black and Blue Division? It’s because of the often harsh and unpredictable Midwest winters--an enduring tradition that goes back to the days of George Halas and Vince Lombardi.
I am sick and tired of seeing the best traditions in professional sports, such as day baseball and natural turf, undermined continually by crass commercialism. It’s little wonder that there is so much malaise in baseball and football these days.
