‘Miss Whiplash’ in Florida, London Police Say
LONDON — Britain’s most famous prostitute has turned up alive and well in Florida, police said Friday, ending a six-day search by detectives and hordes of journalists.
Detective Superintendent Michael Bennison said Lindi St. Clair--”Miss Whiplash” to her many clients--had been found in Fort Lauderdale.
The alarm was raised after St. Clair failed to turn up for a meeting with journalists in the southern resort town of Brighton las weekend. She said she was planning to discuss a “dirt file” on members of Parliament.
Her car was found abandoned at the top of nearby cliffs, a notorious suicide spot, but a search found no sign of her. Police said they suspected her disappearance had more to do with publicity than any violent act.
