Sands of Time Run Out for Dunes Casino
Associated Press
LAS VEGAS — Hundreds of employees will lose their jobs when the landmark Dunes hotel-casino shuts its doors today.
Denise Watson, a casino cashier for 14 years, said there will be plenty of tears when the 38-year-old resort closes.
“It won’t be a party, I’ll tell you that,” she said. “When they shut off the lights it’s going to be like unplugging the machines on somebody’s deathbed.”
The Dunes was billed as the world’s most luxurious hotel after it opened in May, 1955.
