Ford Motor Co. and attorneys for Bill Shoemaker reached a settlement against any “potential claims” that could result from an accident on April 8, 1991, when the former jockey was seriously injured. Shoemaker was driving a Ford Bronco II near San Dimas when he veered off the highway and tumbled down an embankment. Shoemaker is now a quadriplegic. L.A. County Superior Court Judge Gregory O’Brien on Thursday denied a motion by Ford that the settlement terms be sealed.
