LAGUNA HILLS : Child’s Park Goes State-of-the-Art
A $32,000 state-of-the-art playground set is being installed at MacKenzie Park, and the new equipment should be available to the public by Monday, city officials said.
The one-piece set nearly fills a play area 45 feet in diameter and includes three slides, climbing pipes, a swinging tire, mirrors, multilevel decks and a “tele-talker” that pipes sound from one end of the set to the other.
Except for an aging swing set, the park has been without playground equipment for about a year, said City Parks and Recreation Director Dave Lewis. The previous play sets, supplied by the county more than 15 years ago, were removed after their sharp edges, rusty sheet metal and lead-based paint were deemed unsafe, Lewis said.
