Discount on Tickets
In response to “Discount for Payment of Delinquent Tickets Offered,” Feb. 5:
What is Los Angeles County coming to? I could not believe that I just read that the L.A. County Municipal Court is offering an amnesty program for most late traffic citations received in the county before April 1, 1991. Motorists can clear the outstanding violations by paying 70% of the total amount owed on the ticket with three exceptions.
This is totally the reverse approach; for the 1 million tickets outstanding the policy should be: 30% penalty plus the violation charge or no driver’s license or eligibility for automobile insurance.
The honest citizen does not fit in anymore with this type of unfair payoff system that has gotten completely out of hand.
