CATALINA ISLAND : U.S. Safety Panel Probes Plane Crash That Killed 1
The National Transportation Safety Board on Tuesday began investigating a plane crash into a mountain ridge on Catalina Island that killed one person.
The crash was reported about 7:40 p.m. Monday by a resident who told Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies he spotted a plane circling and then dive. Rescuers reached the wreckage about 10:05 p.m. and found one person dead inside the wreckage, Deputy Bill Martin said.
The name of the victim was not immediately available.
