Dick Huhn will serve as president of the nonprofit Hawthorne Parks and Recreation Foundation for the seventh consecutive year. Huhn has served as chairman of the organization for seven of the eight years since its founding. Other officers working with Huhn this year are Les Wixon and Dan Juarez. Elected to two-year terms are Maura Dorch, Matt Bagdasarian, Larry Guidi, Lloyd Jones, Vince Schiavi and Don White.
Rosa W. Lin, a 28-year-old graduate student at Cal State Dominguez Hills, has been awarded the inaugural Abrram Krushkov Memorial Scholarship. Lin, a resident of Hawthorne and graduate of Hawthorne High School, is majoring in public administration.
Attorney Roger Minor of Rolling Hills Estates has been elected to the Christian Legal Society board of directors. The society consists of about 4,700 attorneys, judges and law students from throughout the United States.
The purpose of the organization is to inspire and challenge attorneys to analyze the law according to biblical principles as it relates to their practice, their community, personal relationships and professional ethics. Minor, a partner of the law firm of Kavesh and Minor, attends Rolling Hills Covenant Church.
Betty Kozasa of Manhattan Beach is chairwoman of the 25-member state Commission on Aging. Kozasa is now in her second term on the commission, which also includes Ursel Russ Nolte of Torrance.
