LONG BEACH : Sailor Found Guilty of Raping 2 Women
A sailor was convicted Wednesday of attacking two women he accosted in the parking structure of the Long Beach Plaza mall last November.
A Long Beach Superior Court jury found Lamar Thomas, 22, guilty of 13 criminal counts, including rape, kidnaping and assault with a deadly weapon. Thomas, a cook aboard the Long Beach-based Ingraham, testified last week that he had consensual sex with the women.
But the jury believed the two victims. One woman testified that she was kidnaped at gunpoint Nov. 2 from the parking structure, taken to another site and raped. A second woman said that Thomas beat and raped her at gunpoint Nov. 19 after ordering her inside her car.
