Across Networks: CBS News anchor Dan Rather’s first scheduled appearance on NBC’s “Late Night With David Letterman” Friday has got to be causing some dismay within NBC and at the network’s affiliates. Until now, NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw has been the only network news anchor ever to be on with Letterman, appearing an estimated “more than 35 times.” It is expected Rather and other CBS News personnel will be regular Letterman guests once the program moves to CBS in August.
