BLUE PARKS: Cherokee Parks won a national college basketball title last year as a Duke freshman, but his sophomore season ended much more painfully. Parks, 1991 Orange County high school player of the year for Marina High, injured an ankle with 32 seconds left in the first half and had to watch the rest of Cal’s 82-77 upset of the Blue Devils in the NCAA tournament (C1). Parks scored just two points as Duke’s string of five consecutive Final Four appearances was ended.
