Are we cherishing the welfare of our cars more than ourselves? Car insurance is compulsory, health care is not.

Having health insurance with a profit-making insurance company is considered smart investment. The payment is called a premium. Why is the same insurance premium called “tax” if we pay it to a nonprofit organization run by the government?
