BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Pacifica Scores Six Runs in Seventh to Beat Rancho Alamitos
Pacifica strung together a walk and six hits in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 10-9 victory over Rancho Alamitos in a Garden Grove League baseball game Friday.
Rancho Alamitos led, 9-4, entering the seventh before Pacifica scored six runs.
Jeff Depippo went four for four and Ron Weber went four for five for Pacifica (5-7, 2-2).
Rancho Alamitos fell to 7-2 and 2-2.
In another Garden Grove League game:
La Quinta 15, Los Amigos 2--La Quinta’s Jim Livernois went four for five with five runs scored and a run batted in. Bobby Ruiz went four for four with two runs scored and four RBIs, and Ken Granger went five for five with four RBIs for the Aztecs (10-2, 4-0). Los Amigos is 1-9, 1-3.
In the Academy League:
St. Michael’s Prep 28, South Gate Southeast Lutheran 3 (4, mercy)--Roman De La Riva homered twice in the third inning, and Steve Dullack, Ken McEvoy each hit home runs for St. Michael’s Prep (2-2, 1-1), which had 18 hits. Southeast Lutheran committed 13 errors.
In the Century League:
Foothill 5, El Modena 0--Craig Paisley pitched a four-hitter and Jeff Pickler had two hits and two RBIs for visiting Foothill (5-5, 3-1).
Orange 5, Santa Ana Valley 1--Pat Harris scored two runs and pitched four innings of one-hit relief to earn the victory for visiting Orange (4-6, 2-2). Santa Ana Valley is 5-5, 2-2.
Villa Park 9, Canyon 4--Kayvon Pejouhiam hit a two-run homer for Villa Park. Winning pitcher Matt Parker (2-2) had three hits and two RBIs.
In the Freeway League:
La Habra 5, Troy 5--Ken Huff of La Habra (2-1-2) had three hits and two RBIs, and teammate Mike Dominguez had two hits and two RBIs. Nick Ruzzi hit a grand slam in the second inning for Troy (4-0-1).
Sunny Hills 10, Fullerton 4--John Ferraro had four hits and three RBIs, and Eric Smith had three RBIs for Sunny Hills (8-4, 3-2). Fullerton is 0-4-1 in league.
Sonora 8, Buena Park 2--Adam Chez hit a three-run homer and drove in a run with a single for Sonora (6-5,2-3).
In the Sunset League:
Edison 8, Marina 4--Two-run home runs by Todd Belitz and Robert Caton highlighted a six-run fourth inning for Edison (7-2, 3-0). Nick Damato homered and doubled for Marina (7-6, 2-2).
Ocean View 4, Servite 0--Justin Brunette tripled, had an RBI and pitched six innings to earn the victory for Ocean View (9-3, 2-2). Servite is 5-7, 1-3.
Westminster 3, Santa Ana 2--Ariesteo Rodriguez hit a two-run home run in the first for Westminster (8-4, 3-1). Winning pitcher Matt Murphy scattered eight hits and struck out 10.
In nonleague baseball:
Downey Calvary Chapel 6, Liberty Christian 5--Gabe Baltodano had two hits, and Steve Caruso hit a two-run single for visiting Liberty Christian (7-5).
