Bell : School Board Candidates to Participate in Forum
Three candidates vying for the new District 2 seat on the Los Angeles Unified District school board will participate in a public forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bell Community Center, 6250 Pine Ave.
Former school board member Larry Gonzalez, Belvedere Junior High Principal Victoria Castro and Southeast-area education activist Willene Cooper each hope to represent the predominantly Latino district, which stretches from South Gate and Huntington Park to Boyle Heights, Echo Park, Silver Lake, Downtown and Pico-Union. The election is April 20.
The forum is sponsored by the Bell Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m.
