GOINGS ON / SANTA BARBARA : The Vic Is Back : The roving theater will offer a documentary double bill--two works by filmmaker Les Blank at the Bluebird Cafe.

Don’t forget the return tonight of Santa Barbara’s Victoria Street Theater (a.k.a. The New Vic Theater).

The Vic has been quiet since leaving its West Victoria Street address last November. But this evening the folks who run it will present a documentary double bill--”Innocents Abroad” and “Marc and Ann,” both by filmmaker Les Blank--at the Bluebird Cafe. The former follows an American tour group through Europe, the latter focuses on a Cajun couple.

Show time is 8 p.m. Admission is $5. The Bluebird is on the second floor of Victoria Court at the corner of Victoria and State streets. For more information call 563-1438.

The Vic, formerly a movie theater, lost its home of 11 years recently, and has been moving from spot to spot lately. It is Santa Barbara’s only independent movie theater, and is dedicated to alternative culture.

Look for the New Vic to visit the Lobero Theatre on April 24, with a presentation of Buster Keaton’s silent film “Sherlock Jr.” The movie will be accompanied by the live music of San Francisco’s Club Foot.

Students and faculty from UC Santa Barbara’s department of dramatic arts dance division will present their annual Spring Dance Concert tonight through Saturday at the university’s Main Theatre. All of the pieces for “Dance ‘93” were choreographed by members of the department. The show will begin at 8 p.m. each night. General admission is $8.50. It’s time for another contemporary film series at UCSB’s Campbell Hall.

“Monday Night at the Movies” will kick off this Monday with a showing of “Enchanted April.” Based on the 1923 novel by Elizabeth von Arnim, the British film centers around the lives of four English women who find romance and companionship during a monthlong retreat to Italy.

The series will run through May 24. The rest of the schedule: “Night on Earth” (April 19), “Close to Eden” (April 26), “The Crying Game” (May 3), “Damage” (May 10), “Passion Fish” (May 17) and “Painting the Town” (May 24). The Contemporary Arts Forum’s “Art of Music Video” series at Center Stage Theater will continue Monday with a look at “Music Video and the Politics of Dancing.” The evening will focus on videos with social or political themes, from 1960s pop music to the MTV “Rock the Vote” public service announcements. Heiichiro Ohyama, conductor of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, will drop baton and pick up viola April 18 for the ensemble’s second annual “Starry-starry Night Gala.”

Among his duties, Ohyama is a professor of music at UC Santa Barbara, music director of the Japan America Symphony Orchestra of Los Angeles, and artistic director of the Santa Fe Music Festival. From 1986 to 1990, Ohyama was the assistant conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The party, at the Santa Barbara Nordstrom store, will include hors d’oeuvres, dinner provided by Michael’s Waterside restaurant, a fashion show, and live and silent auctions. Festivities will start at 7 p.m. The concert will feature selections by Mozart and Weber. Tickets are $75 per person and the deadline for reservations is Saturday. For more information call 564-8887.
