SANTA PAULA : Candy Recovered in High School Burglary Arrests
Santa Paula police arrested four Santa Paula men and recovered a large quantity of candy from a car after a pre-dawn burglary at Santa Paula High School, authorities said Friday.
After spotting a vehicle parked next to the school at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, the officers investigated and gave chase when the driver sped away, said Santa Paula Police Cmdr. Mark C. Hanson.
The driver, Jerry Hernandez, 22, stopped the car a block away and attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended, Hanson said.
Police found about 10 cartons of candy and granola bars in his car.
Police later arrested Juan Enriquez, 19, Jason Rabago, 20, and Martin Prado, 19.
Police discovered that the school’s student store had been vandalized and burglarized, with an undetermined amount of computer equipment, business records and candy missing, Hanson said.
After obtaining a warrant, police searched Rabago’s car and recovered a computer system, boxes of school forms and more candy believed taken from the school, Sgt. Gary Marshall said.
