For 64,000-Shekel Question, Priests Take on Rabbis
LONDON — A new British television quiz show will pit rabbis against Catholic priests and ask them to identify Bible stories from tabloid-style newspaper headlines.
The quiz, to be shown on Sundays from June 6, is called “Divine Inspiration.”
A sample headline: “How A Sheepskin Could Help Me To Count My Blessings” refers to a sheepskin coat of many colors given by Jacob to favored son Joseph.
Editor Dagmar Charlton denies her program on the ITV commercial network is designed to shock. “We don’t want to offend anyone; it’s in no way blasphemous,” she said Friday.
Another of the games involves contestants, who will be from a variety of denominations, delivering a 60-second sermon after being given a quirky opening line.
