A Star Hotel: The Anaheim Hilton has won an award from the city’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services for providing picnic lunches for schoolchildren attending special park events.
More than 40 classes of third- and fourth-graders visit Anaheim parks every year to paint over graffiti, pick up litter and do other maintenance chores to try to foster community spirit. The hotdog and hamburger lunches, which the hotel has been providing for eight years, are a thank-you, hotel officials say.
“This program instills a sense of responsibility and community spirit in these young people that is carried over into adulthood. Hilton is proud to be part of such an important event,” said the hotel’s general manager, Glenn A. Hale.
