Food Collection for Homeless to End
DANA POINT — Today is the last day for South County residents to drop off canned goods to benefit homeless people in San Clemente and Dana Point.
Canned food can be left at Dana Point City Hall, 33232 Street of the Golden Lantern, till 5 p.m.
“People need to be helped all year round, not just during the holidays,” said Ali Bastani, a food-drive organizer who works with the South County Community Service Center. “Our plan is to have programs quarterly and to make the community aware that giving is needed all the time.”
The center sponsors food drives and provides emergency shelter, food and clothing to those in need. The center also provides counseling to the homeless.
