Former Head of Israeli Missile Project Jailed
JERUSALEM — The former head of an Israeli project to make an anti-missile missile was sentenced to two years in jail Thursday for taking a bribe from a Canadian company, Israel Radio said. Dov Raviv of the U.S.-funded Arrow project was also given a two-year suspended sentence and fined $18,250, it said.
A court convicted him earlier this month of taking a $175,000 bribe from a representative of the Armada company, which supplied equipment to Israel Aircraft Industries.
The Arrow, part of the largely scrapped U.S. Strategic Defense Initiative, is intended to defend cities against ballistic missiles.
