REAL CHAMPION: The California Angels have retired just three numbers: 26, 29 and 30. Can you name which players wore them? OK, it was a trick question. Rod Carew was 29, Nolan Ryan was 30, and 26 was retired in 1982 to recognize owner Gene Autry as the honorary “26th man” on the 25-player roster. . . . But Autry is so hungry for his first World Series he’d surely let any Angel wear it who could get him there. The first-place Angels are home again Friday against Oakland.
