SANTA ANA : 1 Killed, 1 Critically Hurt in Shooting
One man was killed and another remained hospitalized Sunday with severe wounds after what authorities described as a possibly gang-related shooting late Saturday.
Police responded to a call of several people fighting and shots being fired in the 2100 block of West Willits Street about 10:40 Saturday night, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Dick Faust said.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found two gunshot victims on the ground, Faust said.
James Singletary, 21, of Santa Ana, had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Clifton Ross, 24, also of Santa Ana, suffered two gunshot wounds and was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was reported in critical condition, Faust and a hospital spokesman said.
Police had no suspects and were continuing their investigation, Faust said.
