OLDCOMER: The county’s newest theater is also its oldest. . . . Originally it was the Capital Auditorium, a movie and vaudeville house that opened in downtown Santa Ana in 1913. In 1919 it came the Yost Theatre. Innumerable owners and face lifts later, the 80-year-old Yost reopened last month much as it began: A venue for live theater, music and dance. One of the first theater groups to perform in the 700-seat facility: El Teatro Campesino, which is headed by playwright Luis Valdez, author of “Zoot Suit.”
