Ford Plans to Recall 119,700 Cars and Vans: Ford Motor Co. said the recall is for problems ranging from cracked frames to steering lockup. Ford has already notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it plans to make the recalls. The first recall concerns about 91,000 Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer cars from the 1991 and 1992 model years, to replace roll pins in the ignition locks. The lock cylinder could move out of place, causing the steering wheel to lock up, possibly causing an accident. Ford also plans to recall about 3,700 1993 Probes to replace a pivot pin that could cause the rear hatch to close suddenly. The third recall involves about 25,000 1990 and 1991 Econoline cargo vans. The rear shock absorber cross-member of the vehicle frame could crack, causing a loss of vehicle control.
