OXNARD : Suspects Sought in Stabbing of Youth
Oxnard police are searching for a group of gang members suspected of chasing down a youngster Saturday and stabbing him several times in the back and neck.
Police were unable to specify the age or hometown of the victim, but a nursing supervisor at St. John’s Regional Medical Center said Sunday that a 17-year-old boy was listed in serious condition with stab wounds to the neck.
Investigators said the boy and a friend were walking along the 2000 block of East Channel Islands Boulevard about 5 p.m. when four members of a “rival gang” approached the pair.
A fight ensued, and when the victim and his friend fled, one of the four chased the victim through a shopping center parking lot and stabbed him several times in the back and neck.
The victim entered a nearby business and collapsed, police said.
Nursing supervisor Karen Nichols on Sunday could not confirm that the 17-year-old being cared for at St. John’s was the same victim. Police on Sunday could only say that the case is still under investigation.
