Mazda to Buy Transmissions From Ford: Ford Motor Co. said it will build the new automatic transmission for some 1994 Mazda Motor Corp. cars beginning next month. Alex Trotman, president and chief operating officer of Ford’s Automotive Group, made the announcement at Ford’s transmission plant in Batavia, Ohio, which is building the CD4E transaxle. Ford said it has invested $700 million in the CD4E program, including $530 million to retool the Batavia plant. Mazda said the part will be used in its 626 and MX-6 models built at a Mazda-Ford joint facility in Flat Rock, Mich.
