American Express Names Chairman and President: Chief Executive Harvey Golub was appointed to the post of chairman and Jeffrey Stiefler will become president, effective Aug. 1. Stiefler, 46, is president and chief executive of American Express Co.’s IDS Financial Services subsidiary and will succeed Golub in the president’s spot. Stiefler’s successor will be named in August. Golub, 54, was named chief executive in February after the resignation of James Robinson, who was pressured to leave in a management shake-up by the company’s board.
