CANOGA PARK : Man Convicted of Vandalism at School
After failing to show up in Van Nuys Municipal Court Monday, a Lancaster man was convicted Tuesday of leading two juveniles on a graffiti-painting spree at a Canoga Park middle school.
Commissioner Mitchell Block sentenced Jesse Clay Adams, 18, to one week in jail and ordered him to spend 30 days cleaning up graffiti for his no-contest plea to one count of vandalism.
Adams will also serve three years on probation for scrawling about 20 spray-painted signs in a courtyard at Christopher Columbus Junior High School during the early morning hours of April 18.
Police say Adams and two Simi Valley residents committed damage that cost school officials $1,000 to clean up, which Adams was also ordered to pay for.
The trio was taken into custody after a neighbor alerted police to suspicious activity on the Elkwood Street campus.
