Man Shoots Up Disability Office
LAS VEGAS — A man who officials said recently lost his disability benefits opened fire with a shotgun on a state insurance office Thursday, then drove wildly through the building before a security guard shot him in the head.
Witnesses said the man shouted, “I’m sick of this and I’m not going to take it any more!” before he began shooting up the building just west of downtown.
Screaming workers fled, some jumping through windows as the gunman fired two shotgun blasts into the building’s ceiling before getting in his truck, driving it inside and shooting some more. Three people suffered minor injuries, none of them gunshot wounds.
The man was tentatively identified by authorities as Jim Forrester, 58. He was listed in guarded condition at University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the head.
