Jaywalker, 78, Killed in Granada Hills
A 78-year-old Van Nuys man died Saturday after he was struck by a car while jaywalking in Granada Hills, police said.
Antranik Mozessian died of head injuries at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills about 12:10 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Officer Michelle Birch.
The accident occurred about 10:45 a.m. when Mozessian was struck by a car driven by Richard Madden, 65, of Chatsworth. Madden was driving west on San Fernando Mission Boulevard near Amestoy Avenue, Birch said.
Madden, who was traveling about 30 m.p.h., under the posted speed limit, was unable to avoid hitting Mozessian, who was crossing San Fernando Mission in mid-block, Birch said.
