800 Number
* With all due respect to Jan Krajewski (obituary, June 15), a World War II hero and successful businessman, and knowing he would want to set the record straight, Krajewski knew that I was the originator of the (800) CITIZEN number, which is why he never accepted authorship of Edmund G. (Jerry) Brown Jr.’s 800 number idea. I presented the 800 number idea to Jody Evans, Brown’s presidential campaign manager, on Oct. 18, 1991.
My 800 number idea, part of a broad-based citizen involvement strategy that I proposed to the Brown campaign, was finally used by them in their last fund-raising pitch.
