BURBANK : Golf Fund-Raiser to Benefit Youth Club
As its first major fund-raiser, the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank is sponsoring a golf tournament to draw community support and raise funds to open, organizers said.
“That’s our hope,” said Vince Yanniello. “That with this type of fund-raiser we’d be reaching out to the community.”
The club needs $60,000 to open in Burbank. About $31,000 has been raised so far. Yanniello said the tournament could raise $12,000 to $14,000.
The tournament will be Oct. 22 at De Bell Municipal Golf Course in the Verdugo Mountains in Burbank. The club is trying to line up sponsors by the end of July or early August, Yanniello said.
“They want this to be a big fund-raiser for family and friends,” said Chris Spencer, a tournament promoter. “They are hoping for this to be the big kickoff for the Boys & Girls Club.”
The fee is $99 a player.
For more information about joining the tournament as a player or a sponsor call 818-846-5520 or Yanniello at 213-870-3027. Checks can be mailed to the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank, c/o the golf tournament, P.O. Box 1476 Burbank, Ca. 91507.
The club has selected a site at the McKinley Elementary School on West Valencia Avenue.
