AND ONE MORE THING: Prince (you can call him “Al”) is set to open a retail store in Minneapolis this week, with a unique twist: The store, called New Power Generation, will not only sell records, clothing and other Prince paraphernalia, but will also feature video screens and listening booths at which fans can hear and see tapes of unreleased Prince sessions, including collaborations with Bruce Springsteen and the late Miles Davis.
The Minneapolis madcap has also finished putting together tracks for a three-CD greatest-hits package, due Sept. 14. The collection will reportedly feature several B-sides (including the notorious “Erotic City”) and four previously unreleased songs (including “Peach,” which was featured on Prince’s recent tour).
