Chrysler Raises Prices an Average 1.2%: Citing federal mandates and higher business costs, Chrysler Corp. raised its prices on 1994 model cars and trucks by an average of $244 over 1993 models. Passenger car prices will increase 1.8%, or $341, and prices for trucks, including minivans, will rise 0.9%, or $193. Tom Pappert, Chrysler’s vice president for sales, said the increase is less than the rate of inflation and is expected to be competitive. The auto maker said mandated equipment such as passenger-side air bags, side-impact protection, emission control systems and non-CFC refrigerants account for about 70% of the increase in car prices.
