Svetlana Khokhlova of Russia won the first gold medal of the European Swimming Championships at Sheffield, England, when she rallied from a poor first dive to win the women’s 10-meter platform final.
Khokhlova took the lead from Ute Wetzig of Germany with one dive to go to win with 434.25 points. Wetzig won the silver with 425.61, and the bronze went to Elena Jupina of Ukraine with 411.81.
