The first of the newly remastered Elvis Costello album reissues will come in October with a bonus: the first official commercial release of the much-bootlegged “Live at the Macambo.” The live album will be included as a freebie in a “2 and 1/2 Years” boxed set with Costello’s first three albums. But if you want to buy the three regular CDs separately, there will be coupons that can be sent to get the bonus disc. Each album will also have extra tracks of rare and B-side material. . . .

Neil Diamond is paying homage to his old staff-songwriter days with his next album, “Up on the Roof: Songs From the Brill Building.” Among the selections--oldies written by the likes of Carole King & Gerry Goffin and Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller, but not Diamond--are “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” (a duet with Dolly Parton), “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” and “Groovy Kind of Love.” It’s due Sept. 28. . . .

“Photograph,” a new song by R.E.M. and ex-Maniac Natalie Merchant, will be featured on the pro-abortion rights benefit album “Born to Choose,” put together by Spin magazine music editor Craig Marks and Hits post-modern editor Karen Glauber. Other artists contributing songs are Lucinda Williams, Cowboy Junkies, Helmet, Matthew Sweet, Tom Waits, Megadeth, Sugar, Soundgarden, NRBQ, the Mekons, Pavement and John Trudell. . . .

Brazilian speed-metal band Sepultura went all the way to Wales to record a new album that’s due Oct. 14. . . . David Foster assembled a cast including Michael Crawford, Celine Dion, Tom Jones, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Tammy Wynette and Wynonna Judd for “David Foster’s Grown-Up Christmas List,” an album of seasonal classics due Oct. 19. . . .

Depeche Mode has finished two different Anton Corbijn-directed videos for the song “Condemnation,” one live (look for it on MTV soon) and one a concept piece of man being “condemned to love.” There’s also a CD-5 single of “Condemnation” with added live tracks due next month and a full Depeche concert video due by Christmas. Next up for Corbijn: directing the video for “The Wanderer,” the U2 track featuring Johnny Cash. . . .

The large-format Prince concert footage may not be released for the public after all. A spokeswoman for the Iwerks firm that shot the film says that they only filmed two songs and it is only intended for use in in-house demonstrations for the company.
