Six suspected gang members were arrested Friday afternoon after a gunfight wounded a teen-ager in the right foot, police reported Saturday.

The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. at St. Callistus Catholic School, near the intersection of Garden Grove Boulevard and Lewis Street and across the street from the site of a fatal shooting earlier this month, Sgt. Dick Faust said.

Vinh Hoan Trieu, 18, of Garden Grove and three male juveniles who were not identified because of their ages were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder shortly after the shooting when Garden Grove police officers stopped them on the freeway, Faust said.

They were being held in jail Saturday.

Two other juvenile males were arrested for allegedly violating probation.

In an unrelated shooting on Aug. 6, at the Quick Corner Mini Market across from St. Callistus, 15-year-old Lazaro Omar Acosta Jr. was killed while waiting to go on a church retreat. Orange police later arrested two Garden Grove residents, including one juvenile, and seized three handguns, a shotgun and an assault rifle in connection with that shooting.
