Whittier : Think of It as C-SPAN With a Local Flavor
Residents who can’t get enough of their local government will be able to catch some more of it on a local cable channel this fall. The Whittier City Council voted 4 to 0 this week to televise meetings of the city’s Redevelopment Agency and the Planning Commission. City Council meetings are already aired.
The meetings will air live on Channel 6 on the local cable network. The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. The Redevelopment Agency and City Council meet on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively.
Officials also announced plans to produce several 10-minute public interest shows on such topics as graffiti and the city’s development-review process. The city also is making plans to broadcast selected community events.
