2 Men Injured During Gunfight in La Colonia
A gunfight in La Colonia section of Oxnard Saturday night left two men hospitalized with serious injuries, authorities said.
One of the victims was listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the stomach and chest, and another was in stable condition with abdominal wounds, said officials at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. Authorities would not release the names of the victims.
Police said the details of the gunfight, which took place near Rose Avenue and 1st Street, remained sketchy late Saturday, but they had taken four men into custody for questioning.
One of the men taken into custody was also injured in the incident, but not seriously, police said.
Nearby residents said they heard gunshots around 8:20 p.m. and police sirens shortly afterward, but they did not know what prompted the fight. The victims were taken to a residence on Eliza Court in La Colonia where the occupants of the house called for an ambulance.
Police said they did not know if the incident was gang-related.
