Japan’s Vehicle Exports Continue Slowdown in July: The decline was due to reduced shipments to the European Community, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Assn. said. Vehicle exports fell 13.9% from a year earlier to 404,178, the lowest for any July in 14 years, the group said. The figure has fallen every month since October, except in March, when it rose 6.1%. July exports of cars fell 14.3% from the year-earlier period to 311,839, while truck exports dropped 13.4% to 86,305, JAMA said. Vehicle exports to the EC dropped 32.2% from the year before to 72,494, marking the sixth straight year-over-year decline as the EC auto market continues to slump, a JAMA official said. Exports to the United States edged up 1.9%, while exports to Asia jumped 26.6%.
