FHP Appoints Senior Vice President for Public Affairs
Nick Franklin has been appointed senior vice president for public affairs at FHP Health Care in Fountain Valley, a subsidiary of FHP International Corp. He was also appointed to the company’s executive planning committee. In his new position, Franklin is responsible for federal, state and local government affairs, public and community relations and the FHP Political Action Committee. Franklin joined FHP in 1990 as vice president for government affairs. Before that, he was president and co-founder of Southwest Public Affairs Inc. and an attorney with the law firm of Sutin, Thayer and Browne, both based in Albuquerque, N.M. He has also served as chief legislative assistant and legal adviser to the governor of New Mexico; secretary of the Energy and Minerals Department of New Mexico; and chairman of the Democratic Party in New Mexico.
