LOS ANGELES : Illness of Juror in Denny Case Suspends Testimony

Because a juror became ill, testimony was canceled Wednesday in the trial of two men accused of attempting to kill trucker Reginald O. Denny, Superior Court Judge John W. Ouderkirk said.

Paramedics were called to attend to the juror, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office said. The juror insisted on remaining on the panel, court sources said, and Ouderkirk decided not to seat an alternate.

The trial will continue today with testimony from a third witness who once worked with defendant Henry Keith Watson at an armored car company. Two earlier witnesses from the firm identified Watson on videotape as one of Denny’s assailants.

Watson, 29, and Damian Monroe Williams, 21, are also charged with assaulting or robbing seven others as rioting broke out last year.
