Congressman to Step Down

TOPEKA, Kan. — Rep. Jim Slattery (D-Kan.), considered a likely candidate to run for governor, announced Wednesday that he does not plan to seek reelection to Congress. Slattery, 45, has held the 2nd District seat since 1983.
