Airlines Raise Ticket Prices: U.S. carriers marked the end of the summer travel season with announcements that they will raise round-trip ticket prices by $20, starting today. Trans World Airlines Inc., due to emerge from bankruptcy later this month, initiated the hike for tickets to U.S. destinations. Continental Airlines Inc. and Delta Air Lines Inc. matched the move. American Airlines Inc. and USAir Group Inc. said they were reviewing the increase. The move was viewed by industry analysts as an attempt to raise base ticket prices before carriers are tempted to cut prices to lure travelers after the peak summer season.
